ZOLL AED Pro faq

Get answers to frequently asked questions about the ZOLL AED Pro defibrillator.

General:

Is the ZOLL AED Pro® designed for public use?

The ZOLL AED Pro is designed for Emergency Medical Professional use, as it has a port for a 3-lead ECG cable and manual override, but its operation is also simple enough to be used by the general public.

What is the warranty for the ZOLL AED Pro?

The ZOLL AED Pro comes with a 5 year warranty.

What is manual override and can I get a unit without it?

Manual override allows medical professionals to deliver a shock on demand rather than waiting for the unit to assess whether a shock is needed. This feature can be enabled or disabled as needed.

How do I transfer data on the ZOLL AED Pro?

The ZOLL AED Pro requires the use of a USB flash drive to transfer data from the device to a PC.

Batteries:

Should I choose the regular or rechargeable battery?

Rechargeable batteries are handy for medical professionals who are using the ZOLL AED Pro on a regular basis. They are not recommended for use in the device if the device will be sitting idle for long periods of time. The non-rechargeable lithium ion battery for the ZOLL AED Pro has a standby shelf life of 3 years.

How long does the rechargeable battery last?

Battery Amp Hours are dependent on how long the AED has sat idle, or how much of it has been used. The ZOLL® SurePower Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery has indicator lights visible to the user which indicates how much run time is left on the battery. Please note this battery must be recharged in the ZOLL® SurePower Charger Station.

How often should the rechargeable battery be replaced?

The rechargeable battery should be replaced if a check of the battery indicates a fault.

Electrode Pads:

Can I use the CPR-D-padz with the ZOLL AED Pro?

You can use ZOLL’s popular one piece CPR-D-padz electrodes or the traditional 2-piece Stat-padz II

Should I choose the Stat-padz II or the CPR-D-padz?

The Stat-padz II are less expensive than the CPR-D-padz, but they also do not allow for Real CPR Help feedback, and they only have a 24 month shelf life in comparison to the CPR-D-padz 5 year shelf life. The CPR-D-padz are most helpful to the general public, while the Stat-padz II are usually a better option for medical professionals who are using the defibrillator often and are trained to read ECGs.

Can I use the CPR-D-padz on a pediatric patient?

CPR-D-padz are not for use on pediatric patients under 55 lbs or less than 8 years of age. For pediatric patients, Pedi-padz II should be used and attached in the manner indicated on the packaging. ZOLL’s Intelligent Pediatric Capability feature in the AED Pro detects that Pedi-padz II are connected and performs a pediatric ECG.
