Global Supply Chain Update: National AED Shortages

Recently the FDA released a national AED shortage notice that highlights the decrease in availability of medical equipment, devices, and life-saving technology like AEDs. Whether this is your first-time hearing of this global shortage, or you have experienced the delays first-hand, we want to ensure your understanding of what AEDSuperstore is doing to alleviate the disruption in our shipping process.

Why is there a national AED shortage?

Global supply chain issues as well as recent events in the news such as the NFL’s Damar Hamlin story, have increased the demand for these rescue devices and their accessories. Global supply chain issues have now stemmed a nationwide backorder of AEDs, AED accessories, and other medical equipment.

How AEDSuperstore can help:

  • To keep you informed of which devices are currently affected by this shortage, we are labeling backordered products that are affected. These products have a label indicating that there is a significant manufacturer backorder. Our goal is to update these products as soon as possible to avoid any inconveniences, but please have patience with us as these backorders may take time to be relayed to us.

  • We are still allowing most products on backorder to be purchased, so you can reserve a spot in line. When they are back in stock, your order will be at the top of the list. We realize that these are crucial life-saving tools that individuals need to keep businesses and organizations safe for everyone, which is why we will continue to fulfill backorder purchases in the order they are received. With new inventory being shipped in daily, we will continue to ship out orders ASAP.

  • We understand that waiting can be frustrating, and we apologize if you have been affected by this delay already. Thank you for your patience with us during this time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I need my AED or AED accessory now and cannot wait?

If you are not looking for a specific AED brand or model, we encourage you to browse our available AEDs and purchase an AED that says, “Ships fast.”  We understand that batteries and pads for your current AED are critical to it functioning properly. We recommend keeping your current battery/pads with the AED and making your purchase now to help ensure you receive them sooner than later.

Why have I not been able to reach a customer service team member?

Due to the national supply chain shortage and recent increase in demand for our products, our customer care team members have high volumes of both phone calls and emails. We apologize if we were not able to get to you in a timely manner, but please be patient as our team works their way toward getting back to you.  If you would like to contact someone, please fill out our Contact Us form. It will open a help ticket in our system. Please keep in mind due to this shortage and increased demand, our phone and email wait times are longer than usual.

Will my credit card be charged if a product is backordered?

No, your card will not be charged until your product ships. In the event significant time has passed between placing your order and it shipping, we may contact you to reauthorize the purchase.

What does a product on backorder look like?

A product on backorder should have a message that reads “Significant manufacturer backorder. Ships when available” or “Nationwide Backorder. Ships in ___.”
